WFISD trustees mull auto toilets, ask for construction costs

Wichita Falls ISD School Board members came to the conclusion they need to see the entire financial picture for the two new high schools’ construction Monday night.

They got there by way of automatic toilets.

Trustees listened to pros and cons of battery-operated versus electric auto sensors for restrooms at the new high schools during a meeting Monday night.

Faced with the prospect of the schools’ price tag rising yet again, trustees ultimately decided they want updated financial information about costs and contingency funds for two new high schools under construction.

“I can’t stomach us spending more money when we’re already at a deficit and going to the highest price that we can go for the restrooms when we’ve just let . . . teachers go,” Mark Lukert, Place 3 trustee, said.
